REPUBLIC ACT NO. 30
September 25, 1946
AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, OF A GRATUITY TO THE WIDOW AND/OR CHILDREN, AND IN THEIR ABSENCE TO THE OTHER HEIRS, OF A DECEASED OFFICER OR MEMBER OF ANY POLICE FORCE OR SIMILAR GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION ENGAGED IN THE MAINTENANCE OF PEACE AND ORDER, APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR
Section 1. In addition to any right or benefit which, by operation of law, accrues to the widow and/or children of a deceased officer or member of any police force or similar governmental organization, whether national, provincial, city or municipal, engaged in the maintenance of peace and order, there is authorized to be paid to such widow and/or children a gratuity equivalent to one year salary, but in no case less than the sum of one thousand pesos, if the deceased officer or member of the force shall have been killed while engaged in the performance of his duties in connection with the campaign for the maintenance of peace and order, or as a direct consequence of his participation therein. If such deceased has no surviving widow or children, such gratuity shall be paid to his other heirs in the order of succession established by the Civil Code.chanrobles virtualaw library
Sec. 2. The President of the Philippines shall issue such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act.chanrobles virtualaw library
Section 3. The sum of five hundred thousand pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to carry out the provisions of this Act for the current fiscal year. Thereafter, a like amount shall be included in the annual General Appropriation Act to meet the payment of the gratuities herein authorized for the succeeding years.chanrobles virtualaw library
Sec. 4. This Act shall take effect as of January first, nineteen hundred and forty-six.
