THE MATTER OF AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF COMELEC
RESOLUTION NO. 3258 RE CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE MAY 14, 2001
NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS.
COMELEC
RESOLUTION NO. 3322
IN
THE MATTER OF AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF COMELEC
RESOLUTION NO. 3258 RE CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES FOR THE MAY 14, 2001
NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS.
Considering
Sec. 11, R.A.
8436 which provides, as follows:

"For this
purpose,
the deadline for the filing of certificate of candidacy/petition for
registration/manifestation
to participate in the elections shall not be later than one hundred
twenty
(120) days before the elections: Provided, that any elective official,
whether national or local, running for any office other than the one
which
he/she is holding in permanent capacity, except for president and
vice-president,
shall be deemed resigned only upon the start of the campaign period
corresponding
to the position for which he/she is running: Provided, further that
unlawful
acts or omissions applicable to a candidate shall take effect upon the
start of the aforesaid campaign period.

The Commission
resolved as it hereby resolves, to amend the election period, the date
of the filing of Certificate of Candidacy, the campaign period and
other
election activities as follows:

January 2, 2001 to June 13, 2001
ACTIVITIES:
Election Period
PROHIBITED
ACTS:
Bearing, carrying or transporting of firearms/deadly weapons, including
wearing of uniforms, insignias, etc.
Transfer or detail
of officers and employees in the civil service, including public school
teachers.
Organizing or
maintaining reaction/strike forces or similar forces.
Use of security
personnel or bodyguards by candidates, whether or not such bodyguards
are
regular members or officers of the PNP or AFP or other law enforcement
agency.
Suspension of
any elective regional provincial city municipal or barangay officials.

ACTIVITIES:
Filing of Certificate of Candidacy for all elective positions.

ACTIVITIES:
Last day to submit certificate of nomination of candidates of
registered
political parties.

DATE/PERIOD: January
19, 2001
ACTIVITES:
(1) Last day to file petitions to deny due course or cancel a
certificate
of candidacy; (2) Last day to file a petition to declare as nuisance a
registered candidate.

31, 2001
ACTIVITIES:
Last day for submission of nominees for party-list representatives.
PROHIBITED
ACTS:
None
DATE/PERIOD: March
30, 2001 (FRI) to May 12, 2001 (SAT)
ACTIVITIES:
Campaign period for Members of the House of Representatives and
elective
regional, provincial, city and municipal officials.
PROHIBITED
ACTS:
None
The Education and
Information Department, this Commission, shall cause the immediate
publication
of this resolution in two (2) daily newspapers of general circulation
in
the Philippines and shall furnish copies thereof to all heads of
registered
national political parties, Regional Section Directors Provincial
Election
Supervisors, Election Officers and all Departments, Bureaus, Offices
and
Agencies deputized by the Commission.
Let the Office
of the Executive Director implement this resolution.
