COMELEC RESOLUTION NO. 3804
IN THE MATTER OF THE APPLICATION FOR MEDIA ACCREDITATION.
 
 

This pertains to the Memorandum dated 14 March 2001 of Atty. Ma. Angelina J. Matibag,Director IV, Education and Information Department, relative to the application of various local and foreign media entities for Media Accreditation.

The Memorandum of Atty. Matibag reads:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary

    "Pursuant to Resolution No. 3270 promulgated on October 5, 2000, in the matter of Guidelines for Mass Media Accreditation in connection with the May 14, 2001 National and Local Elections, respectfully forwarded to the Commission en banc the hereto attached applications for media accreditation from various local and foreign media entities processed by the Education and Information Department.

    "The applications for accreditation recommended for [approvals] are the following:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary
     

      1. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation (426)
      2. GMA Network Incorporated (373)

    "After all the applications have been processed, the following are recommended for disapproval:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary
     

      1. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation (22)
      2. GMA Network Incorporated (102)."

The Memorandum dated 06 March 2001 of Atty. Matibag reads:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary

    "Pursuant to Resolution No. 3270 promulgated on October 5, 2000, in the matter of Guidelines for Mass Media Accreditation in connection with the May 14, 2001 National and Local Elections, respectfully forwarded to the Commission en banc the hereto attached applications for media accreditation from various local and foreign media entities processed by the Education and Information Department.

    The applications for accreditation recommended for approval are the following:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary
     

      1. The Daily Tribune (5)
      2. Bandera (6)
      3. Southern Broadcasting Network (SBN) 21 (13)
      4. ABC 5 (11)
      5. Members of the Comelec Press Corps (11)

    "After all the applications have been processed, the following are recommended for disapproval:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary
     

      1. ABC 5 (2)."

In view of the foregoing, the Commission resolved, as it hereby resolves, to approve the recommendation of Atty. Ma. J. Angelina G. Matibag, Director IV, Education and Information Department, the following media entities for accreditation:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary

    1. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation (426)
    2. GMA Network Incorporated (373)
    3. The Daily Tribune (5)
    4. Bandera (6)
    5. Southern Broadcasting Network (SBN) 21 (13)
    6. ABC 5 (11)
    7. Members of the Comelec Press Corps (11)

And accordingly, the following media entities are disapproved:chanroblesvirtuallawlibrary

    1. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation (22)
    2. GMA Network Incorporated (102)
    3. ABC 5 (2)

Let the Education and Information Department implement this Resolution.
