EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 388  - CREATING A NATIONAL COUNCIL ON PHYSICAL FITNESS

WHEREAS, the capacity of our people to work towards the achievement of national growth and development goals is contingent upon their health and physical fitness;

WHEREAS, an effective national program of physical fitness and athletics promotion is essential to the development of a healthy, strong and sturdy citizenry; and

WHEREAS, such a program can best be developed through a coordinated, integrated approach involving various sectors — government offices and entities, private agencies, as well as civic and professional organizations;  

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby create a National Council on Physical Fitness composed of the following:

The Secretary of Education     — Chairman

The Secretary of Health     — Vice-Chairman

The Presidential Assistant on Community Development — Member

The Undersecretary of National Defense   — Member

A Representative of the Philippine Amateur Athletic Federation — Member

A Representative of the Public School Interscholastic
Association   — Member

A Representative of the Private School Interscholastic Athletic
Association   — Member
