EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 232 -
ABOLISHING THE PRESIDENTIAL TASK FORCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LUNGSOD
SILANGAN AND INTER-AGENCY TASK FORCE ON SOCIALIZED HOUSING IN MANGGAHAN
FLOODWAY AND TRANSFERRING THEIR POWERS AND FUNCTIONS TO THE
PRESIDENTIAL COMMISSION ON THE MANILA-RIZAL-LAGUNA-QUEZON (MARILAQUE)

| WHEREAS, the Presidential
Commission for the Manila-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon (MARILAQUE) Growth
Corridor was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 197 dated 29
August 1994 to prepare an integrated development plan for the growth
area encompassing agri-industry, housing, tourism, environmental
protection, water supply, power generation, natural resources, and
other investment opportunities, among others; WHEREAS, the Presidential Task Force for the Development of Lungsod Silangan was created under Administrative Order No. 120 dated 03 March 1994 to oversee, facilitate and encourage private sector participation in the development of the Lungsod ng Silangan Townsite Reservation under Proclamation No. 1637 dated 18 April 1977; WHEREAS, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Socialized Housing in Manggahan Floodway was created by virtue of Memorandum Order No. 191 dated 12 February 1994 to formulate a socialized housing program for qualified squatter families in the Manggahan Floodway; WHEREAS, the Lungsod Silangan Townsite Reservation and Manggahan Floodway are situated within the MARILAQUE Growth Corridor; and WHEREAS, to consolidate all efforts for the development of the MARILAQUE Growth Corridor and for better coordination purposes, there is a need to integrate the activities of the Presidential Task Force for the Development of Lungsod Silangan and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Socialized Housing in Manggahan Floodway into the Presidential Commission on the MARILAQUE Growth Corridor; NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order: SECTION 1. Abolition of the Presidential Task Force for the Development of Lungsod Silangan and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Socialized Housing in Manggahan Floodway. — The Presidential Task Force for the Development of Lungsod Silangan and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Socialized Housing in the Manggahan Floodway are hereby abolished and their powers and functions transferred to the Presidential Commission on the MARILAQUE Growth Corridor. To ensure continuity and to avoid unnecessary duplication of efforts, the Commission shall review existing plans and programs of the two Task Forces with the end in view of their appropriate integration/consolidation into the Commission’s plans and programs. All the records, remaining funds, personnel, and outputs of the abolished bodies shall be turned over to the Commission upon effectivity of this Order. SECTION 2. Coordination with Other Government Agencies. — To assist the Commission in its technical activities and to enhance the coordinative mechanism among the different agencies , the Commission shall coordinate and consult with the pertinent line departments and other government bodies, including committees and task forces responsible for the Manila-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon areas. For this purpose, the Commission may create appropriate technical working groups. SECTION 3. Submission of Reports. — The Commission shall submit quarterly reports to the Office of the President, through the Office of the Executive Secretary on the status of activities in pursuance of its mandate, with recommendations on how the implementation of the Integrated Development Plan can be fast-tracked. SECTION 4. Effectivity. — This Executive Order shall take effect immediately. DONE in the City of Manila, this 29th day of March, in the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety five. |
