EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 240 - FURTHER
AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 249 DATED MAY 29, 1995 GRANTING PERMANENT
RESIDENT STATUS TO CERTAIN VIETNAMESE CITIZENS AND FILIPINO-VIETNAMESE
CHILDREN

| WHEREAS,
there is a need to extend the period given to the Bureau of Immigration
within which to process the residency and citizenship papers of the
individuals covered by Executive Order No. 249, Series of
1995. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order: 1.
The period given to the Bureau of Immigration within which to process
the residency and citizenship papers of the individuals covered by
Executive Order No. 249 is hereby extended by six (6) months from the
publication of this Order. The Secretary of Justice shall submit his
report on the implementation of Executive Order No. 249 to the Office
of the President within thirty (30) days from completion by the Bureau
of Immigration of the processing of the papers.
2. This Order shall take effect immediately. Done in the City of Manila, this 4th day of May, in the year of our Lord, Two Thousand. |
