MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 147 - RENEWING THE DESIGNATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (UP) AS THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE ACADEME IN THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON SCHOLARSHIPS

WHEREAS, Article IX, volume 1 of Presidential Decree No. 1, series of 1972 authorized the inclusion of a representative of the academic community in the Special Committee on Scholarships (SCS) for a term of six (6) years;

WHEREAS, the University of the Philippines (UP) was designated as the academe's official member-representative in the SCS in 1986;

WHEREAS, in recognition of UP's continuous active participation in the SCS, SCS Resolution No. 18, series of 1996 was passed recommending the renewal of the 6 year term of UP which expired in 1992;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FIDEL V. RAMOS, President of the Republic of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby renew the designation of the University of the Philippines as representative of the academic community in the SCS.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 13th day of August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety-six.
