AUTHORIZING PHILIPPINE NAVY OFFICERS WHILE ASSIGNED WITH THE PHILIPPINE
MARINES TO USE THE OFFICER RANK DESIGNATION OF THE GROUP ANDR FORCES

WHEREAS,
ever since the activation of the Philippine Marine as a unit of the
Philippine Navy, naval officers while assigned with the Philippine
Marines continue to use naval rank designation; chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
WHEREAS, Philippine Navy enlisted personnel assigned with the
Philippine Marines are given the enlisted rank designation of the
Ground andr Forces;chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
WHEREAS, there is increasing interaction between the Philippine Marines
and the Ground andr Forces, in both their operation and administrative
duties;chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
WHEREAS, it is necessary to have a common rank designation so as to
avoid possible confusion and embarrassment that may arise due to
differences in rank designation.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines by
virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution as
Commander-in-Chief of all the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and
pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972, do hereby
order and decree that:cralaw:red
Section 1. All Philippine Navy officers while
assigned with the Philippine Marines are hereby authorized to use the
Ground andr Forces rank designation: Provided, That Navy Officers who
may be assigned with the Philippine Marines shall continue to be
carried in the Philippine Navy Seniority and Lineal and Promotion
Lists; Provided, further, That when these naval officers are reassigned
from the Philippine Marines to the Philippine Navy, they shall resume
the use of their naval rank designation.
Section 2. All laws, rules and regulations which are
inconsistent with decree are amended or modified accordingly. chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
Section 3. The Chief of Staff, AFP shall issue the
necessary rules and regulations to implement this decree, subject to
the approval of the Secretary of National Defense.
Section 4. This Decree shall take effect immediately.
Done in the City of Manila,
this 30th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and
seventy-eight.
