WHEREAS,
the officers and men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines more than
any group of government personnel have been actively engaged in
eradicating widespread lawlessness, disorder and wanton destruction of
lives and property now prevailing throughout the country; chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
WHEREAS, in carrying out these dangerous tasks, many of them have lost
their lives and many more will sacrifice theirs for a noble cause;chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
WHEREAS, there has been a considerable increase of burial expenses;chanroblesvirtualawlibrary
WHEREAS, the heirs of military personnel, particularly of those who
were killed in actions have to spend more for the burial of their
deceased love ones and the death gratuities they are entitled to are
consequently reduced; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to keep the morale and efficiency of the
officers and men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at a highest
degree while they are engaged in the serious and delicate tasks
aforementioned.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines,
by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution as
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and pursuant
to Proclamation No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972, Proclamation No.
1104, dated January 17, 1973 and General Order No. 1, dated September
22, 1972, do hereby authorize and prescribe the following new rates of
burial allowance for the officers and men of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines, provisions of existing laws to the contrary

Field Grade Officers 2,500
Company Grade Officers 2,000
Probationary Officers/Cadets 1,500
Enlisted Personnel 1,200
Draftees/Trainees/Reservists on Training 900
The Secretary of National Defense shall promulgate necessary rules and
regulations for the effective implementation of this decree.
