PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1558 -
GRANTING EMERGENCY INCENTIVE ALLOWANCE TO CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES IN THE
BUREAU OF MINES NOT COVERED BY PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 398

| WHEREAS,
the peculiar nature of discovering, exploring, developing and
exploiting or making minerals and metals available for the benefit of
the New Society demands the services of geologists, mining engineers,
metallurgists, geophysicists and paleontologists; WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 398 granted incentives allowance to geologists, mining engineers, metallurgists, geophysicists and paleontologists of the Bureau of Mines, to encourage them to stay in the government service; WHEREAS, the said grant of incentive allowance not only restrained the outflow but also attracted into the service of the Bureau of Mines some of those who left and new crops of graduates as well; WHEREAS, the supportive services of this Bureau who were left out of the benefits under Presidential Decree No. 398 share the responsibilities in the total process of making minerals and metals available and useful to the industry; and WHEREAS, in order to bolster further, their enthusiasm to participate in the Bureau of Mines' function of extending full support to the private sector in fostering the growth of the premier industry of the country, it in necessary to augment their salaries in the form of monthly incentive allowance. NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and decree: Section 1. All personnel in the Bureau of Mines holding classified positions not covered by Presidential Decree No. 398 shall receive monthly incentive allowance in accordance with the following rates: Salary Annual Salary Monthly Range Bracket Incentive Allowance 64 and above P13,824 and above P1,000 61-63 11,094 to 13,152 800 54-60 8,400 to 11,328 700 50-53 6,888 to 7,992 600 44-49 5,112 to 6,552 500 Below 44 Below P5,112 400 Section 2. The sum of Four Million Three Hundred Seventy Six Thousand Four Hundred Pesos (P4,376,400) is hereby appropriated for this purpose to be taken from savings of the Bureau of Mines. Thereafter, the necessary amount shall be included in the annual General Appropriation Decree. Section 3. This Decree shall take effect immediately. Done in the City of Manila, this 11th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-eight. |
