PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1747
- AMENDING Section ELEVEN OF PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NUMBERED
SEVENTEEN HUNDRED FORTY-FIVE

| WHEREAS,
Presidential Decree No. 1745, dated November 20, 1980, among
others, provides for the surrender of unlicensed firearms,
ammunitions and explosives within a three-month period from
the effectivity thereof without the person incurring any
criminal liability therefor and affording him the opportunity to
possess the firearm legally by applying for a license to possess
the same; WHEREAS, there is an imperative necessity for the pertinent provisions on the surrender and licensing of loose firearms to be given prospective effectivity in order to provide ample opportunity for the proper authorities to adequately disseminate and inform the public of the benefits provided for by the law. NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby decree that: Section 11 of Presidential Decree No. 1745, dated November 20, 1980 is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 11. Effectivity. — This Decree shall take effect immediately except that the provisions of Sections 3, 4 and 5 hereof shall take effect on February 1, 1981 so as to provide for adequate dissemination to the public of the necessary information pertaining to the contents thereof and the mechanics therefor. Done in the City of Manila, Philippines, this 4th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty. |
