REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4162 - AN ACT
AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES TO EXTEND ECONOMIC AND
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO SOUTH VIETNAM AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

| WHEREAS,
South Vietnam is at present resisting communist aggression and
subversion; WHEREAS, the territory of South Vietnam is one of those areas designated under the protocol to the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty; WHEREAS, other members of the Southeast Asia Organization are voluntarily extending assistance to South Vietnam in various forms; and WHEREAS, the Philippines is committed to the cause of democracy and freedom and is resolved to extend economic and technical assistance to South Vietnam which is now imperilled by the force of communism; Now therefor, SECTION 1. The President of the Philippines is authorized to send economic and technical assistance to South Vietnam. SECTION 2. The sum of one million pesos, or so much thereof as may so necessary, is appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to carry out the purpose of this Act. SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. Approved: July 21, 1964 |
