Gentlemen:
Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated SEPT 12 2000.
G.R. Nos. 135518-20 (People of the Philippines vs. Jose Roquero.)
Considering that accused-appellant Jose Roquero, who was convicted of three (3) counts of rape and sentenced to death in the appealed Decision of the Regional Trial Court of Palawan in Criminal Cases Nos. 12351-53, died on June 2, 2000 at the National Bilibid Prison Hospital, Muntinlupa City according to the Death Certificate submitted by the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Corrections, the Court resolves to DISMISS the case.
The compliance by the Office of the Solicitor General with the resolution dated August 22, 2000 requiring it to verify the fact of death of the accused-appellant is hereby dispensed with. Ynares-Santiago, J., is on leave.
