RE: CONVERSION OF THE MUNICIPALITIES OF HIMAMAYLAN, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, et al., INTO COMPONENT CITIES

Gentlemen:

Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated JAN 16 2002.

A.M. No. 01-11-299-MTCC(Re: Conversion of the Municipalities of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental; Talisay, Cebu; Sipalay, Negros Occ.; Tanjay, Negros Oriental; Alaminos, Pangasinan; Vigan, Ilocos Sur; and Candon, Ilocos Sur, into component cities.)

Considering the letter dated 12 September 2001 of MTC Judge Rolando V. Balgos, Himamaylan, Negros Occ., informing the Office of the Court Administrator that R.A.No. 9028, entitled "An Act Converting the Municipality of Himamaylan, in the Province of Negros Occ. Into a Component City to be known as the City of Himamaylan," had been ratified in a plebiscite on 31 March 2000 per attached Certificate of Canvass of Votes and Proclamation by the Plebiscite Board of Canvassers, and it appearing likewise that: (a) Republic Act No. 8979, entitled" "An Act Converting the Municipality of Talisay in the Province of Cebu into a Component City to be known as the City of Talisay," was ratified on 30 December 2000; (b) Republic Act No. 9027, entitled: "An Act Converting the Municipality of Sipalay in the Province of Negros Occidental into a component city to be known as the City of Sipalay," was ratified on 31 March 2001; (c) Republic Act No. 9026, entitled: "An Act Converting the Municipality of Tanjay in the Province of Negros Oriental into a component city to be known as the City of Tanjay," which was ratified on 31 March 2001; (d) Republic Act No. 9025, entitled: "An Act Converting the Municipality of Alaminos, in Pangasinan into a Component City", was ratified on 28 March 2001; (e) Republic Act No. 8988 entitled: "An Act Validating and Recognizing the Creation of the City of Vigan by the Royal Decree of September 7, 1757 issued by Fernando VI, King of Spain," was ratified on 22 January 2001; and (f) Republic Act No. 9018 entitled: "An Act Converting the Municipality of Candon into a Component City of the Province of Ilocos Sur to be known as the City of Candon," was ratified on 28 March 2001, the Court Resolves, upon recommendation of the Court Administrator in his Report dated 8 November 2001, to CONVERT the following Municipal Trial Courts into Municipal Trial Courts in Cities, to wit:

1.Municipal Trial Court of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Himamaylan City;

2.Municipal Trial Court of Talisay, Cebu - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Talisay City;

3.Municipal Trial Court of Sipalay, Negros Occ. - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Sipalay City;

4.Municipal Trial Court of Tanjay, Negros Occ. - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Tanjay City;

5.Municipal Trial Court of Alaminos, Pangasinan - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Alaminos City;

6.Municipal Trial Court of Vigan, Ilocos Sur - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Vigan City

7.Municipal Trial Court of Candon, Ilocos Sur - Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Candon City

and to DIRECT that all court records be AMENDED to conform with the foregoing developments.
