[G.R. No. 160016. June 20, 2005]
ABACUS SECURITIES vs. AMPIL
THIRD DIVISION
Sirs/Mesdames:
Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated JUN 20 2005.
G.R. No. 160016 (Abacus Securities Corporation vs. Ruben V. Ampil.)
During its deliberation on this case, the Court discerned that, while the case on its face involves two private parties for the collection of a sum of money, a deeper analysis of the issues revealed that they may have implications extending beyond the present parties. The issues revolve around practices in the stock market and their disposition could have cascading effects on the securities market and, possibly, the entire economy.
WHEREFORE, the Court Resolves to REQUIRE the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Philippine Stock Exchange to comment on the Petition within twenty (20) days from receipt hereof. Let the Clerk of Court of the Third Division, Supreme Court, furnish both entities with separate copies of the parties' pleadings on record, together with this Notice.
SO ORDERED.
Very truly yours,
(Sgd.) LUCITA ABJELINA-SORIANO
Clerk of Court
