SUBJECT: KATARUNGANG PAMBARANGAY LAW AND RULES. For your information and guidance, enclosed herewith are copies of Presidential Decree No. 1508, otherwise know as the Katarungang Pambarangay Law promulgated on June 11, 1978 and its implementing rules. The decree expressly provides that it shall take effect six (6) months after its promulgation or on December 11, 1978. However, pending the organization of the conciliation bodies created under said decree, the barangay system of settlement of disputes cannot be implemented. In view whereof, you are hereby directed to continue as heretofore to receive cases which would fall within the authority of said conciliation bodies until further orders from this Court.
