Gentlemen:
Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated APR 7, 1999.
G.R. No. 129242 (Pilar S. Vda. De Manalo, et al. vs. Purita S. Jayme, et al.)
The Court RESOLVES to NOTE the entry of appearance of Caneba, Flores, Rance, Acuesta & Masigla Law Firm dated 23 February 1999 as counsel for petitioners vice the late Atty. Antonio M. Lapuz.
It appearing that Atty. Ricardo
E. Aragones, counsel for respondents, has failed up to this late date to file
respondents' rejoinder to petitioners' reply to the comment on the petition for
review on certiorari as required in the resolution of 28 January 1998, as well
as to pay the fine of P1,000.00 imposed upon him in the resolution of 18
November 1998 for his failure to comply with the resolution of 23 June 1998
requiring him to comply with the resolution of 28 January 1998 and to explain
why he should not be disciplinary dealt with or held in contempt for such
failure to file respondents' rejoinder, the Court further RESOLVES: (a) to
impose upon Atty. Aragones the INCREASED fine of P2,000.00 payable to
this Court within ten (10) from notice hereof or imprisonment of ten (10) days
if such fine is not paid within the prescribed period; and (b) to REQUIRED
Atty. Aragones to COMPLY with the resolution of 28 January 1998 by submitting
to this Court the required rejoinder also within ten (10) days from notice hereof.
