Gentlemen:

Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this court dated JUL 7, 1999.

G.R. No. 93291 (Sulpicio Lines, Inc., et al. vs. Court of Appeals, et al.)

This resolves petitioner's Motion for Reconsideration of the Decision promulgated in this case on March 29, 1999, invoking the following grounds:

1. Private respondent is not entitled to the award of attorney's fees.

2. Assuming that plaintiff-respondent is deserving of the award of attorney's fees, the same should not subject to legal interest; and

3. Assuming that plaintiff-respondent is entitled to legal interest on the grant of attorney's fees, this should be computed from the date when the decision of the Regional Trial Court would have become final and not from the time of collision.

On June 7, 1999, respondent corporation interposed its "Opposition to Motion for Reconsideration" to which petitioners sent in their Reply.

Evidently, the motion poses nothing new. The points raised and arguments advanced by movants merely reiterate the thrust of the petition which the court found barren of merit, and after giving our ponencia a second look we discern no sufficient basis for reconsidering the same.

WHEREFORE, petitioners' Motion for Reconsideration under consideration is hereby DENIED for lack of merit.
