RE: REQUEST OF JURISCONSULT ALAUYA TO TRAVEL TO SAUDI ARABIA
EN BANC
Gentlemen:
Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated MAR 2, 1999.
A.M. 99-2-9-SDC (Re: Request of Jurisconsult Saaduddin A. Alauya to travel to Saudi Arabia.)
Acting on the letter dated February 1, 1999, of Saaduddin A. Alauya, Jurisconsult in Islamic Law, requesting authority to travel on official business to Saudi Arabia from March 18 to April 3, 1999, and it appearing that Jurisconsult's travel to Saudi Arabia last year and his presence then at hajj related primarily to the religious activities and not to his functions as Jurisconsult, the Court Resolved to DENY the request of Jurisconsult Alauya, considering that he was already granted the opportunity to travel on official time to Saudi Aradia last year for the Moslem pilgrimage. Should Jurisconsult Alauya be authorized to travel again this year, such authority might be construed as a precedent and every year, a similar request to travel to Saudi Arabia would be submitted. Vitug and Panganiban, JJ., are on official leave.
Very truly yours,
LUZVIMINDA D. PUNO
