Gentlemen:

Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this court dated SEPT 6 1999.

G.R. No. 126170 (People of the Philippines vs. Emma Maquilan.)

The record shows that Attys. Editha C. Pio and Fernando R. Fernandez have failed, up to this very late date, to pay the Court fine of P2,000.00 imposed on each of them in the resolution of 11 November 1998 which found them guilty of contempt of court in accordance with Section 7, Rule 71 of the Rules of Court for the unauthorized release of accused-appellant Emma Maquilan from prison. Accordingly, the Court ORDERS the ARREST and DENTENTION of Attys. Editha C. Pio and Fernando R. Fernandez until they each pay the fine of P2,000.00 as required in the resolution of 11 November 1998. The Division Clerk of Court is directed to ISSUE the Order of Arrest and Commitment for immediate service by the National Bureau of investigation.
