[G.R. No. 132364.March 12, 2002]
PEOPLE vs. ALVERO
EN BANC
Gentlemen:
Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated MAR 12 2002.
G.R. No. 132364.(People vs. Alvero.)
Acting on the (A) Manifestation, dated February 21, 2002, filed by the Public Attorney's Office that allegedly, "the original and duly authenticated Certificate of Live Birth of Alfredo T. Alvero was already attached and submitted before this Honorable Court" as Annex A of appellant's Motion for Reconsideration, and (B) Comment, dated October 10, 2001, filed by the Office of the Solicitor General, stating that the National Statistic Office (NSO) "is the only government agency which could attest to the genuineness of Annex A which is purportedly the certified true copy of appellant's certificate of live birth," the Court NOTES that while said Annex A is a certified true copy issued by the Office of the Civil Registrar, it is not duly authenticated by the NSO, and thus hereby RESOLVES TO REQUIRE the Public Attorney's Office, per Comment of the Office of the Solicitor General, to get a certification from the NSO that the attached Certificate of Live Birth, bearing the number 6783336, issued on March 3, 2001 is duly authenticated by the NSO , within 10 days from notice." We repeat that the copy of appellant's Certificate of Live Birth should be duly authenticated by the NSO -- not merely by Office of the Civil Registrar-General -- within 10 days from notice.
Very truly yours,
