Gentlemen:
Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated 17 SEPT 2002.
G.R. Nos. 139115-16(People of the Philippines v. Christopher Bringas y Garcia, John Robert Navarro y Cruz, Dennis Ticsay y Pe�a (acquitted), Aruel Ross y Picardo, Bryan Bringas y Garcia, Roger Calaguas y Jimenez, Erickson Paharillo y Baser, Edgardo Sulayao y Petilla, Eden Sy Chung, Glen Sangalang (at large) and Ricky Castillo (at large)) .
For consideration are the following matters:
(1)������ In a manifestation, dated January 22, 2002, written by Jovito Sablas, a paralegal worker in the New Bilibid Prisons, on behalf of, accused-appellants Christopher Bringas and Bryan Bringas, it was stated that accused-appellants expressed their desire for the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) to be appointed as their counsel de oficio in lieu of Atty. Jose C. dela Cruz. In a letter, dated August 5, 2002, accused-appellants Christopher Bringas and Bryan Bringas submitted a certified xerox copy of the death Certificate of their counsel, Atty. Jose C. dela Cruz, in compliance with the resolution of this Court dated March 19, 2002.
(2)������ In a resolution, dated September 26, 2000, Atty. Esteban T. Fadullon, Jr., counsel for accused-appellant Aruel Ross y Picardo, was granted a second extension of thirty (30) days from the expiration of the first extension of thirty (30) days, or until September 23, 2000, within which to file the appellant's brief.The said resolution was received by him on October 3, 2000 per registry return card.To date, however, he has not filed the brief.
Considering the foregoing, the Court RESOLVED to (a) NOTE the letter, dated August 5, 2002, of Christopher Bringas and Bryan Bringas; (b) APPOINT the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) as counsel for accused-appellants Christopher Bringas and Bryan Bringas and REQUIRE it to file a brief for accused-appellant Christopher Bringas within thirty (30) days from receipt thereof; and (c) REQUIRE Atty. Esteban T. Fadullon, Jr., counsel for accused-appellant Aruel Ross y Picardo, to SHOW CAUSE why he should not be held in contempt of this Court for his failure to file the brief for accused-appellant Aruel Ross y Picardo and to COMPLY by filing the required appellant's brief, both within ten (10) days from notice.
