SUPLICO, ET AL. VS. OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Sirs/Mesdames:
Please take notice that the Court en bane issued a Resolution dated NOVEMBER 23, 2010, which reads as follows:
G.R. No. 180426 (Suplico, et al. v. Office of the Secretary General of the House of Representatives)
RESOLUTION
Considering that the term of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the impeachable public officer subject of the supplemental impeachment complaint referred to herein, expired at noon of June 30, 2010* when current President Benigno Simeon Aquino III took his oath as the fifteenth (15th) president of the Republic of the Philippines, the entire matter of the impeachment complaint and the supplemental impeachment complaint has been rendered moot.
WHEREFORE, acting on the petition for certiorari and mandamus to nullify the Office of the Secretary General's ("OSG") act of returning to petitioners a supplemental impeachment complaint filed by petitioners and to direct the OSG to immediately transmit the said complaint to the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (the "House") so that the latter can refer it to the Committee on Justice for determination of its sufficiency in form and substance, the Court resolves to DISMISS the petition for being MOOT AND ACADEMIC."
